LA: Daily: Grammar, handwriting, home reading.  For the next two months we will be learning about persuasive writing.  Our focus this week will be on persuasive writing techniques - "tricks" writers can use to be more persuasive.

Social: This week we are going to stlow down on social a little bit and start a new unit after the break.  On Thursday, we will read more of "Speaking Our Truth."

Science: In our Building unit, we will learn about stored energy.  We will also learn a lot from our virtual field trip.

LA: Daily: Grammar, handwriting, spelling, home reading, March Epic challenge.  For the next two months we will be learning about persuasive writing.  Our focus this week will be books that have characters who are trying to persuade someone of something.

Science: This week we will review what we have learned about simple machines followed by an assessment on Wednesday.

WEEK 22

Math: This week we will take what we have learned about multiplication and extending it to division.  Students should still be practicing their basic multiplication facts each day.  As the material becomes more challenging, students who don't know them fall farther and farther behind.  I strongly recommend playing the games we learn in class to make it fun!  Daily: Math game, Prodigy, Xtra Math.  Monday - reivew of multiplication; Tuesday - Quick Draw, Introduction to Division; Wednesday - Mental Math, Which One Doesn't Belong, Sets; Thursday - Picture Patterns, 3-Act Task, Arrays

LA: Daily: Grammar, handwriting, spelling, home reading, February Epic challenge.  For the next two months we will be learning about narrative writing.  Our focus this week will be organization: the order of a story, sequencing words, writing checklist, titling.

Social: The focus this week will be extending from the fur trade to groups of people who contributed to forming Alberta as it is today.

Science: Students are to keep on top of their Simple Machines Photo Journal as we continue our learning in this area.  This week we will be learning all about pulleys - different kinds and how they work.
